Casa Castellan

01 / The house

A European field desk for American projects

Casa Castellan is an independent sourcing, verification and coordination house for European architectural materials, bespoke private commissions, fine art and selected estate pieces. We work directly with reclamation yards, stone suppliers, historic family workshops and artists across Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and Greece.

Each lot is inspected and verified in person at the source before purchase. Commissioned work is produced under our supervision at the workshop and reviewed against approved drawings, samples and agreed milestones.

Direct contact and relationship with the source allows each proposal to reflect current availability, condition, workshop capacity, lead time and the specific requirements of the project.

How we work

The sourcing register

02 / European sourcing regions

Four countries, worked in person

Casa Castellan's European scout team searches each region in person, working with an established network of antique dealers, quarry and reclamation-yard partners, restorers, workshops and specialist craftsmen. These relationships provide access to private estates, back-room inventories, historic yards and exceptional pieces not available to the wider market.

The field desk is open from 20 September to 18 December 2026, and quarterly thereafter. Between visits, sourcing continues through tested local inspectors and standing dealer relationships.

Documentation & provenance

Before Casa asks for a decision, it makes the facts—and the unknowns—explicit

A seller's claim is not documentation. An observation is not a specialist's conclusion. Casa Castellan closes that gap through in-person observation, research and review. Provenance, seller claims, physical condition and specialist opinions are identified according to their source and presented in one consolidated client dossier.

Historic stone sourcing

05 / Stones with history

Six European stones with documented architectural lineages

Each material is supplied from the district where it was historically quarried or fired, in the finishes and formats the original work used. Specification support, technical data and physical samples precede any order.

ItalyTivoli · Guidonia

Roman Travertine

Quarried around Tivoli and Guidonia, this porous limestone carries the visual grammar of ancient and Baroque Rome. Cut, fill and finish determine whether it reads monumental or quietly contemporary.

Andalusian Marble

A white Andalusian marble with more than five millennia of ornamental use, present in the Alhambra, Córdoba and El Escorial. Casa sources current blocks and finished architectural work from the Macael district.

White Pentelic marble formed the Parthenon, even its tiled roof. Modern Dionysos-area material is presented through documented commercial source, lot and technical data—never ancient association alone.

Casa Castellan Atelier

06 / Transformation & commission

Casa Castellan Atelier

Bespoke historic commissions developed with specialist European ateliers

Overview

Casa Castellan sources and reimagines antique, historic and reclaimed pieces, tailoring interior, fitting and finish around the client’s needs and the architecture of the room. We realize every well-conceived fitment variation with the aid of state-of-the-art technologies and the finest hand made European craftsmanship, preserving the irreplaceable character of the original.

Customization

The Atelier is reserved for singular objects and personal commissions. The number and availability of high-quality antique pieces are exceedingly limited, but there are no limits to the interior fittings of a Casa commission. Whether it is an antique safe commissioned as a cocktail bar, watch and jewelry cabinet or collector vault; an apothecary, archive or library cabinet can be adapted for books, display, media, a humidor or a private collection.

Every Casa commission shares a single defining quality: it stands as a grand expression of a lifestyle reserved for a select few.

Logistics

From Source to Site

Every piece follows the same disciplined path from source to site—verified in person, and accounted for at each stage in between.

The Continental Cycle

Consolidated Freight & Project Freight

Consolidated Freight

Consolidated freight is Casa Castellan's standard mode of shipment: pieces travel together on one of quarterly sailing cycles. This is what keeps a modest source price viable once freight, brokerage and drayage are added—a single object shipped alone would carry the full weight of those costs by itself. Consolidated freight suits work with no fixed installation date: Casa Castellan Finds & Drops, smaller pieces from Bespoke Private Search, and general antiques and objects where the client can work within the published sailing calendar.

Project Freight

Project private freight moves independently of the sailing calendar, scheduled to the requirements of a single project rather than a shared container. It is used deliberately: for Heritage Materials & Architectural Commissions tied to a construction timeline that cannot wait for the next cycle, for Atelier Transformations completed to a fixed installation date, and for any Bespoke Private Search piece whose value, fragility or urgency makes shared handling or waiting unsuitable. Private freight is quoted case by case—never the default, only the exception a project requires.
